In April 2008 IVEA commenced negotiations with national bodies representing vocational education providers in other EU countries, with a view to establishing a new Europe-wide representational and lobbying body for vocational education and training. The organisation EUproVET was officially launched in September 2008 and a Deed of Incorporation was signed on 24th April 2009 in Amsterdam.
IVEA is one of five founder members of EUproVET - four ordinary members (Netherlands, Ireland, Finland, and UK) and one associate member (Spain).
The role of EUproVET
EUproVET's primary role will be as a policy advocacy group which will seek to influence EU draft policy, conduct dialogue with the European commission, promote transnational cooperation between members and promote, inter alia, vocational education and training as major force to sustain economic growth.
It is envisaged that the establishment of a European body of national VET associations will play a significant role in influencing the development of European policy initiatives, and that the establishment of a network of national associations with broadly common objectives will strengthen IVEA - and member VECs - both nationally and internationally.
