Vocational Education Committees (VECs) Launch Promotional DVD
28 April 2009
A DVD highlighting the valuable work of the countries’ VECs has been launched by the Irish Vocational Education Association (IVEA). The ten minute DVD contains testimonials from people who have benefited from VEC courses and training programmes. The DVD also lists the wide range of services that VECs provide to their local communities.
“The purpose of producing the DVD is to illustrate the crucial work that the VECs play in up-skilling and retraining local people. The role of the VECs has been brought into sharp focus as a result of rising unemployment and the subsequent demand on our services from people who are looking to be up skilled,” said Michael Moriarty, General Secretary of the IVEA
The DVD has been issued to various leading stakeholders in the education sector, including education spokespersons of political parties, Government Ministers, members of the media, union leaders and high ranking civil servants. Additional copies of the DVD are available at the IVEA head quarters at McCann House, 99 Marlborough Road, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
