The National Quality Standard Framework for Youth Work
27 July 2010
Statement by Michael Moriarty, General Secretary
IVEA General Secretary, Michael Moriarty, today welcomed the introduction of the National Quality Standards Framework for Youth Work which was launched today by the Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, Barry Andrews.
The framework, said Mr Moriarty, will ensure the continued development of youth services in partnership with VEC's throughout Ireland and it will guarantee a high level of services and programmes for young people all over the country'.
According to Mr Moriarty, the new National Quality Standards 'will usher in a new quality-assured era for youth work at a time when the provision of constructive and age appropriate activity for young people was never more important'.
VECs, said Mr Moriarty, 'now look forward to the full implementation of the Youth Work Act of 2001 so that their youth work officers may play the fullest possible role in the coordination and development of youth work nationally'.
