IVEA Welcomes Outcome of TUI Ballot
05 November 2010
The Irish Vocational Education Association (IVEA), which represents Vocational Education Committees (VECs), welcomes the outcome of today's TUI ballot to enter clarification talks with the Department of Education and Skills on the Croke Park Agreement. IVEA will be a party to these talks and the Association is very hopeful that the outcomes can be agreed, in time, by all the parties. IVEA General Secretary Michael Moriarty states:
In a time of extreme flux and uncertainty, this decision will bring some element of stability to the Vocational Education sector as all parties can work on clarifications requested by the unions. The TUI should now mirror the actions of the other two teacher unions by immediately lifting the union directives. This is a time for partnership and solidarity, especially at a time when the educational sector is being threatened with further cuts in the education budget.
