BOM Handbook
A Handbook for VECs and Boards of Management of Schools and Community Colleges
This handbook is intended to be of assistance to those involved in Vocational Education Committees and boards of management of VEC schools and community colleges. While under the relevant educational legislation a VEC is the body corporate for all schools and colleges established and maintained under its patronage, it delegates many appropriate responsibilities and functions to the local board of a school or college. Therefore there is a need to understand the respective responsibilities and functions at various levels in the sector (2006).

VEC Information Pack width=
Information Pack and Handbook for Vocational Education Committee Members
The material in this pack has been prepared by the Irish Vocational Educational Association (IVEA), with the collaboration of the Department of Education and Science, for the assistance of the staff and members of vocational education committees (VECs). The material is presented as a set of guidelines for adoption by Committees as part of their governance policy framework.
The documentation includes the Code of Practice for the Governance of VECs, as well as a Code of Best Practice for VEC Members and Staff and related documents as advised to Committees by Circular Letter. Committees are required to adopt these as part of their accountability framework.

Equality Impact Assessments Guidelines
Guidelines for conducting Equality Impact Assessments on IVEA and VEC plans, policies and programmes
These guidelines have been developed as a joint venture between the IVEA and the Equality Authority. They provide a foundation from which to implement equality impact assessments of plans, policies and programmes, a foundation that can be built on and developed further over time as capacity in this area grows. The focus for these guidelines is on the plans, policies and programmes that govern the business of the sector and its institutions rather than the internal operational procedures and practices of individual institutions.

Principal’s Legal Handbook
Principal’s Legal Handbook
IVEA is pleased to introduce readers to the Principal’s Legal Handbook, an important and timely guide for all those navigating the waters of an Irish education system.
During the last five years a comprehensive revision of education law has presented many new challenges for principals, teachers and all those working in the Irish education sector. IVEA was heavily involved in the consultation process preceding this legislation and the implementation process that followed. We felt that a straightforward guide decoding the complexities of recent legislation would be great benefit to principals and all those involved in the education sector.
